Realtors association marks Fair Housing Act anniversary with gift to Milwaukee nonprofit, new initiative

During the past decade, the city of Milwaukee has experienced a decrease in homeownership of about 10 percent, according to the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors. That percentage equates to the loss of roughly 13,000 owner-occupied homes that are single-family, duplex or condo units since 2007. To reverse that trend, GMAR on Wednesday presented a $12,500 check to Housing Resources Inc., a Milwaukee nonprofit that helps people purchase homes.
